The smart combination of renewable wood with concrete reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80% per square meter of usable space compared to conventional concrete-steel construction. This sustainable method also contributes to a consistently healthy indoor climate for users. Accordingly, EDGE Südkreuz Berlin was awarded the DGNB Platinum certification, the highest level for building sustainability in Germany, along with the highest WELL certification, WELL Platinum, and the DGNB Diamond Award for architectural quality.
The ground floors provide space for reception and other community areas, with all other spaces designed for office use. The carré's spacious atrium is defined by four unique, tree-like stair constructions that connect floors beyond traditional building cores, creating meeting points for office user interaction. The building ensemble is part of the sustainability and mobility hub at Berlin Südkreuz Station.
