"Optimally Positioned"
Rhomberg Bau has sharpened its strategy and completed its holding management team.
Bregenz, January 24, 2024. With a strategic refinement and a new managing director, Rhomberg Bau starts the year 2024. The traditional company from Bregenz has successfully filled the vacant position of "Chief Operating Officer Rhomberg Bau Holding" with the experienced civil engineer Christoph Lienhart. In his new role, Lienhart takes over the operational management of the markets in Vorarlberg, Vienna, Switzerland, and Germany. Together with Hubert Rhomberg (CEO), Tobias Vonach (CFO), and Matthias Moosbrugger (CTO), he forms the future leadership team of the Rhomberg Bau Holding, which, in addition to Rhomberg Bau GmbH, includes stakes in companies such as Sohm HolzBautechnik and Goldbeck Rhomberg. One of the main tasks of this new team will be the implementation of the recently decided strategic development of the complete construction service provider.
This includes, besides the development of the existing construction and real estate business, especially the focus on Rhomberg Bau's product range on solutions in fields such as timber system construction, design & engineering, energy, and digital services. "In these areas, we have identified significant growth potentials, which we will address in a focused manner in the coming months and years," explains Hubert Rhomberg. For the representative of the owning family, the refinement is "the right answer to the current economic downturn in construction. At one point or another, it will surely still hold some challenges for us, and we may have to become active again situationally. But fundamentally, we are consistently continuing our path from a pure construction company to a technology and product provider, a direction we took years ago."
Renowned Construction Expert
Christoph Lienhart, 45, studied industrial engineering in construction at the Graz University of Technology and the University of Granada in Spain and completed executive MBA programs at the CEU Business School in Budapest and the EBS Business School in Oestrich-Winkel. The native of Styria brings extensive leadership and project experience in the construction and rail infrastructure sector and has successfully implemented various projects at Strabag, Deutsche Bahn, and ÖBB in recent years. "We are convinced that we are now optimally positioned at the construction holding level and have laid an important foundation for the next step in growth and success," Hubert Rhomberg welcomes the new colleague. "The goal is to consistently implement the path we have taken based on our values, the recently approved Strategy 27/28, and the associated objectives."
Initially, the current managing directors Martin Summer and Ernst Thurnher will support Christoph Lienhart. Both aim to ensure a smooth transition. In the coming months, Ernst Thurnher will leave the construction holding and focus on the Rhomberg Holding. Martin Summer will support the leadership team in the organization and transformation until his retirement. There will also be a change in the management of Rhomberg Bau GmbH (Vorarlberg market): Daniel Leitinger will become the new managing director, succeeding Martin Summer after a transition phase, and will be responsible for the Vorarlberg market in the future. The recruitment process for the position of market managing director "Construction & Resources" is currently underway.
